Let Go or Be Dragged or Better Yet Let The Rooster Crow and Start Anew!

2017 is the Year of the Rooster. It the year which signifies the dawn of a new awakening. It is a new year full of hope, dreams and a new you. Letting go of the past can be painful and even difficult. How can one separate what needs to stay versus what moves on into our future.

Can letting go be fluid where there is no black and white?

Can letting go be a place where there is no past versus future?

Just a present moment where the experiences in one’s life are not blocks of chapters to be looked back on but fleeting moments of building blocks to a future one can distantly see. Where every pain, failure and set back allows each of us to take step forward to a fresh of breathe air while we let go of the lessons and set backs of the steps behinds us and dream of the steps which lie ahead. A limbo with only enough room for what lies within. A conscious look at who and what shaped us with a sense of gratitude and thanks for their place in your journey.

Traditional Chinese medicine has a way of acknowledging and bridging the disconnect between our emotional vulnerabilities and our physical body. So often, our mind begs us to move on while our heart whispers we are all human and need a second chance. Acupuncture points like LI 11, PC6 and HT7 regulate the emotions, which can help foster forgiveness of self and forgiveness of others. Forgiveness of self is the more arduous journey, because it lies in a place deep within that we frequently pass over by masking our true emotions with both over-the-counter and prescription drugs that merely delay us from confronting ourselves while providing temporary release of physical symptoms.

One of the beauties of acupuncture is that it can facilitate a rebalancing of our emotional selves, not just the alleviation of physiological issues. And this is a very important, yet undervalued point, because so many of us lack compassion and kindness towards ourselves. We easily retreat into self-criticism and regret, instead of consciously giving ourselves permission to engage in self care and affirm self love.

Give 2016 a polite decline to your immediate future and send it a save the date to a new and improved self. As you let go of who you think you are, you become all that you should be. Let go or be dragged or better yet let the rooster crow and begin to start anew!
